- July 25, 2008

Reported by: Lucy LaLaLa

Friends lend me your eyes so that I, Lucy LaLaLa, can report to you the most recently updated news on Kayla & Steve's Duo shows for the weekend.

I'm happy to report that Kayla & Steve's Jazzy Little Duo that Rocks will be appearing at Aqua Blue on Friday, July 25 from 8pm - 11p. Come on out to this beautiful and delicious venue and see what the duo is up to. I've been there every time they've played there and I'm telling you . . . . I have always been delighted. The Duo is right at home at Aqua Blue and the service and food are fantastic. Brian Longacre, GM, is doing a remarkable job. Trust me . . . . . I know and you should come on out. You'll love it (pssst . . . . . don't forget the coconut cake!)

On Saturday, July 26 you'll find Kayla & Steve back at Stoney River Steaks playing all your favorite jazz & standards tunes from the 40s and 50s. Saturdays at Stoney River, the bar features seasonal fresh fruit infused Martinis for $5. Rebecca and Matt are behind the bar and ready to serve you all your favorite drinks and FULL MENU is always available in the bar. Check out the coffee cured filet. It's delicious and so are the augratin potatoes that come with it. As Kayla says, "it's so good I'd like to lick my plate!" And it is. Save room, however, for the chocolate cake that's frosted with the chocolate ganache. OMG! AND it is served with shots of cold milk. Really, I'm simply speechless over this one, but should Lucy LaLaLa pass away before you . . . . . just slip some of this cake into my coffin. Yes, really.

Howdy, Everyone!

HOT BALMY SUMMER has arrived in Atlanta, GA!

Welcome to everyone who recently joined the mailing list. Also - THE MART IS IN SESSION - so welcome to all of our friends and fans we have made through the years at AmericasMart - we're happy to have you all back in town and look forward to seeing you at the shows.
Speaking of shows . . . . . . we've got 'em headed your way! Reporter, Lucy LaLaLa, is on vacation this week so I'm in charge of all the news. HOORAY!
So . . . . . . without further adieu here's it is . . . . .

Kayla & Steve's Jazzy Little Duo that Rocks will be appearing at Aqua Blue on Holcomb Bridge Road tonight (Friday) July 11 from 8pm - 11p. If you haven't made it out to Aqua Blue - head on out - great food, great service, great atmosphere and coconut cake and cappuccinos that are fantastic. They've got an extensive sushi menu and since I don't eat sushi - that leaves more for all of you that do! I hear it is fantastic - but it's just not my cup of tea. The Gorgonzola Beef Tenderloin, however . . . . . . that's what I'm all about. It is so yummy and delicious it makes me wish that it was socially acceptable to publicly lick my plate. Seriously - it's that good.

On Saturday, July 12 our jazz duo ventures back toStoney River Steaks at Cumberland Mall. This is our new Saturday night home through July and we couldn't be happier about it. I LOVE IT when restaurants take the time to hand-shave parmesan for a Caesar Salad. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. It is so much more delicious that way and it just seems, well . . . decadent. They have these crazy rolls that are out of this world. Poppy seed rolls that taste like donuts without glaze and it's served with a honey butter. JEEZ! The steaks are fantastic - but for an awesome treat - check out the lamp chops. WHOA! I'm not even really a "lamb" fan - but I'm telling you - these lamp chops are crazy delicious. Saturdays the bar features seasonal fresh fruit infused Martinis for $5.

Next week . . . . the adventures continue . . . . .

Tuesday - Friday (July 15 - 18) we'll be at Ray's In The City. All shows are from 6p - 10p except next Friday which is 7p - 11p. This is a great time to hang out in Downtown Atlanta because Mart is in session and the city is buzzing and humming like crazy. DEFINITELY call ahead for reservations during this time because they book up quickly. We played there this past Wednesday night and the place was packed and this is only the beginning of Mart.

While you're there . . . check out the ever famous Horseradish Encrusted Grouper on the lima bean succotash. Steven and I found it our duty to try the new milk chocolate ganache cheesecake with the oreo crust just to make certain that it would be acceptable for any of you to eat and well . . . . . . . it totally rocks and that makes it way beyond acceptable. We had to make a decision to just walk away after a few bites because it was just insanely delicious and made us want to order a whole cheesecake and eat that too! Did I mention the fresh whipped cream and strawberries that comes along the plate? Well, I should have.

Kayla & Steve Saturday Night July 5 at Stoney River Steaks! - July 2, 2008

Reported by: Lucy LaLaLa

Atlanta, GA . . . . . . . That's right Jazzers! This Saturday night our Jazzy Little Duo that Rocks will be performing at Stoney River Steaks at Cumberland Mall from 7p - 10p.
Some of you might be headed out of town for the long weekend so please be careful and have a great time. Those of us (Lucy LaLaLa for one) staying home this year for a "Stay-cation" can hang out on Saturday night with Kayla & Steve.
Make your reservations and come prepared to have a great time. Kayla's back from Hawaii and ready to sing and Steve has another new amp he'll be test driving. They've got some more new tunes to add to the mix and as always, probably a new pair of shoes!
Our fearless duo will be performing from 7p - 10p this Saturday night. If weather permits (i.e. no rain and not too hot) they'll be outside on the patio. If weather is crummy (i.e. rain or too hot) they'll be inside playing in the lounge portion of the restaurant. This is a great new venue the duo has been performing at. "We love working with Lee, the Managing Partner. He is top notch and great at his job!" Kayla says. "Matter of fact", Steve adds, "everyone we work with at Stoney River is fantastic!"
Come see what our duo is raving about. If you have to miss them this Saturday night . . . . . fear not! The duo will be performing at Stoney River every Saturday night in July.

Kayla Taylor Jazz Quintet returns to Fernbank! - June 13, 2008

Atlanta, GA . . . and don't be afraid, either! Kayla was born on the 13th day of February and swears that Friday the 13th has always been a lucky day for her! Kayla Taylor and Steve Moore will be joined by longtime drummer, Mike Zimmerman and upright bassist, Pat Cowan. Kenyon Carter will be the featured saxophone player for the evening. If you haven't had a chance to hear Kenyon with KTJ - then you need to get out and see how talented he is. Steve says that Kenyon is great to work with and is alot of fun. Kayla says he's easy on the eyes. This reporter was there when they all played together last time and I gotta tell ya, Kenyon has it going on! You can learn more about Kenyon at: www.kenyoncarter.com .
KTJ will be playing all your favorites at Fernbank. There's plenty of room for dancing and you will be completely suprised at the food selection. Pizza and Caesar salad seems to be the top pick for our jazzers but there is tons of other items to choose from and don't forget the MARTINI's! You'll have time to catch an IMAX film if you like or you can hang out with KTJ all night long and enjoy the music. More info on Fernbank is available at: www.fernbankmuseum.org/imax/martinis/

Kayla returns this Thursday night to The Catch/Blue Olive Lounge - June 12, 2008

Marietta, GA... Kayla returns this Thursday night to The Catch/Blue Olive Lounge in Marietta, GA with her friends, Organized Time. The newly married Matt Kaminsky will be returning on Hammond B3 with lots of honeymoon stories of his adventures in San Francisco. Rumor has it he was sitting in with a jazz combo out on the West Coast.
Great Food, Groovy Atmosphere and LIVE JAZZ. What more could you as for? Trust this reporter when she tells you that this is truly of the freshest seafood in town. Kayla swears by the sea bass! "You can't help but love a sea bass dish when there is a lemon butter caper sauce involved," she says. We're apt to agree with her wholeheartedly. Check out the seafood quesadilla and the coconut shrimp. Ooooooohhhhhhhh and they have amazing desserts big enough to share. A great way to meet your neighbor or that cute girl across the bar.
Besides all that . . . . . LIVE JAZZ rocks and they've been playing on Thursday nights for ONE WHOLE YEAR NOW! That's fantastic news and you should come out tonight and celebrate with Kayla & Organized Time. Mace Hibbard is the featured horn player tonight. Don't miss a moment of the action. 8pm - Midnight.
